Bad theology - but I wish it was true....

I'm not a believer in the Rapture - I don't believe that the bible can be interpreted to teach this; of course I wish it were - the prospect of getting to avoid the final tribulation is an attractive one. However the point I would offer is that we need to be dubious that God will allow things to go on so pleasantly for us in the First World; the defeat of communism and the very successful application of 'monetarist' economics to the economy has given a period of time where 'we have never had it so'. But outside North America church attendence is falling like a stone, and much of what passes for faith in North America is at least dubious! So it is my expectation that God, in his mercy is going to shake things up to refine the faith of believers and challenge the empty lives of the unbelievers to give them a chance to turn to Him. Perhaps the present comedy show over the US elections is a first warning?
