I don't see any real reason why the issue of homosexuality cannot be compared to Paul's issue with meat offered to idols. In both cases you've got strong words in the Law speaking against it, in both cases you can extrapolate the freedom that Christ gives us to say it makes no difference at all to God.

Whoa -

The OT law outlaws participation in the worship of idols - as far as I'm aware it doesn't look at the issue of dealing with the consequences; this is hardly surprising as it wasn't designed to deal with living in a multifaith community.

Paul's teaching about meat offered to idols is becoming increasingly significant today as we return to a multifaith society; the INSTRUCTION to refuse meat that has clearly been offered to another god is increasingly relevant as we confront the more extreme New Age cults.

The issue of sexual morality is very high on Paul's list of priorities as something on which Christians should not compromise; there is no space in his theology for any form of sexual expression outside a permanent one on one relationship. The only question that can hang on interpretation (if you try REALLY hard) is whether same sex relationships can be allowed. But anything else is fornication, pure and simple, and is not consistent with inheriting the kingdom of God (I agree on this with the gay, and pro gay relationship members of my own church).

As so often I wish it wasn't true. But that is the way God has created the world and told us to live. If you don't like it - read Rom 9 v20,21! At some point we must stop arguing with the King and submit - or leave His kingdom - which is NOT recommended.....
