So, how do I reach the conclusion that non-heterosexual romantic relationships may be not sinful in some cases? Well, for me it is as simple as understanding the difference between love and lust. I believe, honestly, that whenever the Bible condemns sexual activity, it is always condeming lust--never love. There are two ways of entering a sexual relationship:

1. Have sex first, then maybe talk to the person and get to know them, and maybe or maybe not try to keep being friends and having some type of relationship with them.

2. Meet someone, get to know them, become their friend, learn to love them, make a commitment to them, spend time in prayer and godly relationship with them, make a covenant before God that the two of you will be together in love for as long as possible, and only THEN have sex, and only if it seems like the right thing to do given all the circumstances.

Now the first way seems sinful to me, but the second way seems holy.
