No problem with loving your neighbor as yourself...indeed God did not mean just adults....you are correct to point out to also love children as ourselves. Some children can be repulsive and can cause us to hate just as adults can, yet we are called to love even those we have the most trouble with. I am not quite sure what your point is...?
