Aimless Musings

This isn't directed to anyone and doesn't describe a problem or anything, this is just me thinking out loud (or the text equivalent.)

It's a fact that every person's life will have an impact on someone else's life. If you ever have human contact you are going to affect the life of another person. With a lot of people there will be someone who has been profoundly affected by you, and their life would be completely differant had you not met them.

What I'm wondering is, is it possible for someone to make a profound impact on a person's life through the internet? Never actually making contact with them in person, is it possible to change someone's life in a big way?

There are many limitations to that possibility, some being anonominity, restrictions to text and the inherent suspiction one must treat everyone on the internet with.

Text shouldn't be too large a problem, I've read many books that have changed the way I look at things (Catch-22, if you haven't read it, do yourself a favor and read it soon) but on the internet, everyone is in a hurry. Those with slower connections aren't in that much of a hurry, but who wants to open up a web page and be greeted with pages of text by someone with an obscure screen name from who-knows-where?

I think my point is that, however unlikely it is, there is probably someone out there who, if they didn't have an internet connection or something, would be living their lives in a very different fashon.

I'm posting this little rant here of all places because I think that's one of the goals of this message board: To change people's lives for the better. Not just a specific group like boylovers, but everyone, helping people who don't understand boylovers or embracing people in a similar social predicament.

I'd like to say that this board has helped me. It's put a face on a misunderstood group of people, replied to my overly long posts (trust me, they aren't as long on other boards :P ) and have overall been supportive.

If anyone who posts here regularly replying to people like me thinks that it's pointless, I'm just pointing out the possability that you are changing people's lives. Keep at it!

OK I think I'm finished :-)
