Books, like movies, like tv shows, like people in one's life, all influence who we are. I found "truth" in Flatland; others may not. Of course, it is just a book that influenced my view on things. Before that book, there were hundreds (proably millions) of things that impacted and changed my view on things, and since then, I have had hundreds (perhaps millions) of things that impacted my life to see "truth. Our "truth" comes from all of these experiences. Our "truth" is unique.

Thus, many of my stories and your stories may be difficult to align and agree on the "truth." Yet, these differences may impact me to think, and may impact you to think. To agree on all" "truths" is impossible! No two people have been given the same experiences. I bleieve hanging around people who only see the world as you do and closing your mind to other's ideas will never create growth, and you will be stuck in a limited view of "truth." By listeneing to other's views and opening up to other ideas, we are more able to grow and to gain a closer aligment to the real "truth" realizing, of course, that we will never see and understand everything.

Finally, here's something to think about: You wrote:

"But creative people writing stories can't and shouldn't alter one's sense of reality."

In your view, what is reality? Is it only what you can see? As I mentioned in a previous post, the chair you are sitting on is mainly empty space. Does that make sense? Yet, is this not reality? In my view, we don't see the true reality. On the contrary, much of what exists is only a tiny glimpse of true reality. In a relationship, we do not know the "fullness" of another person. A couple who has been together for years can be surprised by the hidden things of their lover.

In our hearts are millions of things no one else sees. However, is this not also part of reality? The "empty space" of thought is much like the vast emptiness that exists within all of the objects we see with our eyes. Yet, the reality is there is more space contained in the chair you are sitting on than the solidness we see? According to human history, the invisibility of this space was not know til recently. Does the invisible and our thoughts matter? So what's real? How much of our senses pick up reality? In my view, we seee very little despite our great eyes. Still today, we know very little despite the great things man has been enlightened to see and discover. It is only a small glimpse at reality.
