Spirit in the sense of life......as in "The little rascal's got spirit". Spirituality is tending to what makes us alive. You're happy with your life....you find it fulfilling and beatiful. That's your spirituality.

When the emphasis is on morality and moral code, then the push is to convert others so that they conform to the code. Indeed, conformity becomes the standard rather than realization of our lives. Some rather awful things are done then to convince people they should change.....things such as convincing them they are worthless and need to be told what to do. A lot of horrors have been committed in the name of morality.

But when the emphasis is on finding and developing who we are and what our gifts are we are led to service. Indeed, I recall a get-together involving a group all proclaiming themselves to be Christian.....a group that, on the surface, it would seem you'd like to keep your distance from. And yet, you used some of your gifts, those of being a gracious host and excellent cook, to be of service to people holding beliefs you strongly disagree with. I thought that was an act Christians should see as a model.
