Being a pedophile is not a choice? Interesting comment, true to some extent it isn't just as to some extent homosexuality is not a choice however, where choice comes into play is that we all have a choice as to whether or not we act upon our thoughts, desires & temptations. You may have pedophilliac tendencies, just as you may have same-sex tendencies as I did, but WE ALL HAVE THE CHOICE AS WHETHER OR NOT WE ACT UPON THOSE TENDENCIES! I experienced same-sex attractions for years & believed that I was born gay,, thankfully God has revealed to me that NO HE DID NOT CREATE ME GAY! I had the choice of whether to accept my "gayness" and act upon my desires to have sex with another man. And after giving in many times, I came to a point where I relied on the Holy Spirit to grant me the strength and will to just say NO! To resist the devil! And I found that in doing so, he (the devil) did flee from me, just as scrip[ture says. Pedophilia is NOT inborn, just as homosexuality is not! God has not created you a "boylover" yes, he may have instilled in you a sensitivity towards boys, but he did not instill in you the desire or craving to have a sexual relationship with a child. I also have seeked "psychiatric help" however, that help was not forth coming, why? because man in all his wisdom is helpless in changing himself or another. Only God can bring about real change & if you truelly seek change, you will find it. Jesus is the way to healing and freedom from all sin, from all forms of "illness" he can change you and I KNOW he wants to change you. He has created you for a purpose & that purpose is not to fulfill your sinful nature. Change is not easy, it takes time and a hell of a lot of determination, faith and will power. You will face tempations, in fact teh moment you decide to trust God and seek to change you will find yourself under attack like never before. But if you remain faithful and continue to rely on the Lord for strength not your own, you will overcome! Satan has a hold on many people, especially homosexuals and pedophiles, but there is hope in Christ. You need more than prayer to change, you need faith, the support of other believers, a deeper relationship with Christ, a willingness to change. And Biblical knowledge and study, you need to seek the Lord at all points of your life. Talk to him daily, read his word daly, let in enter your soul and NEVER GIVE UP! Christ can provide the key to long lasting change. There are many who have gone before you and have found change. Yes, there are many who have attempted but failed. Again, let me stress change is not an overnight accorance, it takles time and a lot of hard work & faith. Things often get a lot worse before they get better. |
