Being a child of God is something that's already given to each of us. It's something we can help other people to realize in themselves. Our sonship isn't something we "earn" by doing what we think is God's work. Our goodness doesn't come from what we do. It's the way we were made in the first place. Accepting that our goodness and sonship are gifts and are ours regardless helps us get beyond the need to point to good things we do as "proof" of our goodness. We no longer need to prove it. ---Ford |
