you can't be a practicing homosexual (as I was) and a christian at the sametime.

A lot of people would disagree with that statement, including Christians. What does it mean to be a Christian? Which things must you believe? That practicing homosexuality is sinful? that divorce and remarriage is sinful? (The Bible says that divorce and remarriage is adultery, and adulterers will go to hell.) that the Bible is infallible and literally true? that you must worship on Saturday? that the world was created in 6 literal 24-hour days? that women must not be pastors? that women must not speak in church? that women must not wear jewelry? that drinking alcoholic beverages is sinful? I know very few people who believe all these things, yet they can all be argued based on the Bible.

I believe that Jesus clearly taught by word and example that violence toward anyone (including one's enemies) is wrong. So I believe that capital punishment and participation in the military is wrong. Do I have the right to say that one can't be a Christian and a practicing member of the military or police at the same time?
