The Spirit of God inside us guides us and teaches us to live in Life and Love, to be done with sin. Of course, if someone is honestly convinced that being in a gay relationship, then as far as they know, they're not living in sin. From what they know of God, they offer themselves and their lives and relationships to him in faith. They may be wrong, but they're not willfully sinning. Jesus' death gives us the freedom to be wrong, a fact which I wish more people appreciated. We do try to think and know and do what's good and right, but we have the freedom to be wrong. Christ Jesus is higher than our broken understanding. Remember that when you say "a gay person cannot be Christian".
