I understand what you mean by letting God control our lives and agree with you on that point. But the Bible has numerous passages that encoursge us to *control* ourselves in some areas, with God's help. I don't have the time right now to look up scriture passages, but comtroling our sinful natures is mentioned in different places as is controling out tongue to name just two. This is the kind of control we are talking about here, not wresting control of our entire lives from what God would want for us.
