News of Brother Chris

Submitted by Bach on February 18 2001 20:16:52

We have been asking for prayers for Chris because there have been some traumatic events in his life recently. He began drinking again, got into a fight with his brother and has been charged with 2nd degree assault following an incident. He will be going to trial this week, and is in need of our prayers.

Chris writes:
The fear is slowly leaving me. My life is in God's hands, all of it! Not only am I through drinking, I'm through with anything like it… smoke, pills… anything. God wants me to be 100% sober and I fully intend to be.

I never, ever want to be in jail again. Although I have met some nice folks in here (and some not-so-nice, too… ), I really don't want to come back. Tony is another Christian… he is in my cell… me, him & 4 other guys. But these guys are ok. Last week two guys in a different two-man cell tore out the toilet. There was water & shit all over the floor of the jail. They kept raising hell until the cops came in and maced them & put them in handcuffs and shackles. We don't do that in our cell… it's mostly older guys. Those young guys get pretty rowdy & nasty.

The food's not too bad but you get kind of sick of eating the same stuff all the time, though. If I never look at another plain potato chip again, it will be too soon. And beans, too. I think these people are trying to see just how much gas the human body can produce. If someone lights a match in here…!!! Anyway, I always thank God for my food, anyways. But soon as I can, I'm going to get me the biggest, thickest, juiciest steak I can find and grill it & eat it! Or a pizza with everything but the kitchen sink on it. Or a big, double-decker cheeseburger!

I praise God for everyone's support, and I am so very grateful for everyone's prayers. Tell them that there is power in prayer and I know those prayers will be answered!

We are praying for Chris. Praying that his lawyer is able to spend adequate time preparing the case, Praying that God touches Chris' family and that healing might begin. Praying that we might all grow in faith through this burden.

We would like our CBF family to post messages of support to Chris in this thread, which we will print out and send to him to remind him of his brothers and sisters here who are praying for him and his family.

Peace of Christ,
Bach
