So what does I Cor 5 and 6 mean then?

In that passage Paul is challenging the non-judgementalism of the Corinthian Christians. They appeared to be of the view that once a person had become a Christian, they could live as they liked - Paul does not agree! Instead he warns very unambiguously that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God, clearly indicating that a reversion to how one lived before will result in such a loss.

I wish it was not the case, but that seems to be the clear teaching of scripture. I accept there is the line of theology that suggests 'Once saved, always saved' - my only way of reconciling the two is to argue that the proof of being saved is that you do persevere to the end!
