Hi sequestered, welcome to CBF. 1.How do you deal with the fact that the Bible teaches that sex should only take place within the marriage relationship? I am in a committed "gay" relationship with an adult partner. My understanding of Biblical prinicples around sexual relationships is that the kind of relationship I am in currently is pleasing to God. There are certainly participants here at CBF that would not share that opinion. 2.How do you deal with the fact that the object of your affections is enumerated in the list of sexual don'ts contained in Scripture? There are numerous "Gay Christian" web sites around which make lengthly explanations on this topic. Many people consider the particular contexts to the Scriptural texts to have a different understanding than our current culture. Others would say that this is simply justifying sinful behaviour. I believe that Scripture speaks more to actions than to feelings. Sexual attraction and desire is not something we choose. Behaviour and acting on those feelings is. 3.I believe that God is a forgiving God and that He truly loves each one of us; however, He is still a just and perfect God, Who finds the commission of 'sin' to be untenable and therefore punishable. How do you deal with the fact that your desires are contrary to His will and His Word? If my *desires* are contrary to "His will", am I created in His image? If my sexual identity is not one that God wishes for me, why is it such an integral part of me? Love and Lust are not one in the same... where is sin? How can I live out a life that holds up to the Christian ethic of Love without crossing boundaries that make me sin? This is my goal. Bach |
