"We ARE most beloved children of God, first and foremost! This is to become a real and absolute identity for us before (I think) any growth as a Christian can occur. And, just like children, we are all growing at a different rate or speed. And, just like children, it takes time to grow."

Very true, and the relationship of the church with God and Christ has been likened to the relationship of a father and his children on more than one occasion. From my own experiences with my children, I realize that nothing alters my love for them, not good or bad behavior. This doesn't mean that our fellowship is constant as behavior modifies fellowship while relationship and love remain constant regardless. But our fellowship is best when they adopt behavior that they know will please me, just as our fellowship with God is best when we try to please Him.

And although He accepts us as His children with all of our imperfections because of the redeeming qualities of the blood of Christ, He still finds sin reprehensible and offensive.
