I was introduced to sexuality at an early age. From the beginning I suppose I always knew I was more broadly attracted than any of my friends ever admitted. In elementary school I had experiences with the neighbors down the street and both the brother and the sister equally held my interest. As I grew older I wondered what this "gay" term was and why certain friends started "doing things" only with girls. Right around adolescence I realized that in a way I wasn't like any of the labels. Not only didn't I fit the labels I was quite confused why being bisexual only applied to those who were attracted to people their age and older.

It didn't take me long to come to the realization that sexuality was quite a large spectrum that people actually fear. For me it was obvious that I could see a eight year old boy and be attracted and yet turn and see a 18 year old girl with similar feelings. The stereotypes were just for control. If you were gay then certain things applied, if you were straight you talked and acted a certain way, and if you were a pederast.. well, you kept your damn mouth shut and pretended to be one of the first two categories!

Now come to find out that not only are these stereotypes too restrictive, they're also misused. Even in our own community many mis-type themselves. See as male BoyLovers we are all homosexually attracted. A boy is of our own gender and therefore we are all single sex attracted- homosexual. Certainly that's not what society's boundaries and definitions entail but it's the honest truth.

I think it's long over due for society to realize that human sexuality is a wide and wondrous chain of experience. Rather than focus on one primal attraction there needs to be a full appreciation for the whole spectrum of life and attractions. The church has been a main proponent in keeping the blinders on though. Most of the movement has held steadfast that God only accepts monogamous heterosexual relationships, barring any and all forms of homosexuality or bisexuality.

Even from the posts in this thread I can see how the Christian dominated fear of homosexuality twisted perceptions to where even BoyLove was personally more acceptable because of a perceived distinction from the abhorrent category of 'homosexuality.'

It's just a start, but my hope is that one day even the fundamentalist view point will realize that fully accepted sexuality is a fundamental to God. Thanks for the post Jules, and good to meet you.

Dive deep, seek peace, love forever,
Collin Maxwell
