A poem I did long ago..............

"A Blink of My Eye" When you were 6 months old you were so full of fun. With a blink of my eye, you were suddenly one! There were so many things I had planned for us to do, but when I next turned my head, you were just turning two! When you were just a little boy of two, you were so dependent on me, but it wasn't long when independence took over and you turned three. your third birthday was just another year I tried ti ignor, but when I lit your birthday candles, there weren't three candles, but suddenly four! Four was the yearyou were so full of joy, no longer could I call you my baby boy! My goodness, just look at you now, you've just turned five! Now you're ready for books and rules, because this is the year you go to school. The big day came, but you were so anxious to go! As we walked to school ever so slowly, it was then I realized how much I was going to miss youu my precious boy. The moment we hugged & kissed, the tears began to well up in my eyes. I watched you walk up the stairs & wave "bye-bye" to me just one more time before you walked into your little class. As I walked back to the house I felt a big lump in my throat; ah!home at last! The moment I opened the door and saw your little picture, the tears that had welled up in my eyes as we hugged & kissed, "I'll see you later!", suddenly broke free & I cried like a little child. Time goes by so fast; it's almost like a dream, but yesterday you were home with me giving hugs & sweet little kisses! Tomorrow when I go to get you you'll be wearing your graduation cap & gown! This is why as you can see, that I'm holding you my precious little one as much as I can & for as long as you'll let me, because before I know it, you my little one, will be all grown up. |
