is that it fails to talk about the whole of the world; the abolition of slavery in the British Empire and the ending of the slave trade across the Atlantic were unquestionably the result of the campaigning of Evangelicals in London. That the churches in the South supported slavery is of course true, and not something I am proud of. However I offer it as an example of a positive contribution from the Christian perspective. You appear to have admitted that. On that basis it becomes legitimate for Christians to campaign as they wish. It happens that their beliefs CAN lead to an intellectually consistent opposition to 'gay rights'. In a democracy they have the right to propound that view - just as the proponents of the opposite have the right to challenge it. Unfortunately it is a feature of the growing anti democratic trends of the 'politically correct' to ignore that fundamental right. However until freedom of speech and religion are abolished, there is no justification for taking exception to the view on 'fundamental rights' grounds. And it is sheer ignorance to dismiss it as 'insane'.
