These laws of course run contrary to the U.S. Constitution, which forbids the State establishment of religion. So, from the pulpit and in private, Chrisitans don't hesitate to say that the purpose of blue laws is to honor their god.

But in the political arena, they shamelessly lie and make other excuses for the laws.

The no drinking on Sunday is there to give drunks a break after a heavy Saturday of drinking. Couldn't you just die laughing from that one? Yet people make the argument with a straight face. That Sunday happens to be a Christian holy day and that it's ONLY Christians who push for the law is simply a "coincidence."

No mowing the lawn on Sunday. Well, in private and among themselves of course, the Christians who defend the law say that it's to honor their god and obey his instructions to not work on Sunday.

Yet in public they lie and say it's about wanting a day of peace and quiet.

I guess it's the dishonesty that pisses me off as much as anything else.
