the real agenda is about how we react to the situation. Eric's way is to run from all contact with boys and try and establish an alternative pattern of relationships with peers. I think that is a shame - in the RIGHT circumstances we have a lot to contribute to boys - but it needs to be done responsibily. You'll see further down the board where I'm at with the issue at the moment; although we are talking about a situation where I am happy with a 20 year old YF, I feel that it offers an indication that for some of us under some circumstances we can have very constructive relationships with boys. Incidentally your reference to university suggests that you are on the British side of the Atlantic; there are a few posters on this board from here, so if you are it would be nice if you were to drop me a line and we can get to know each other a bit. But whatever the case, I hope you'll hang around and get to know us a bit; this board, and the friends I've made on it over the past couple of years have made an enormous difference to my life. |
