Thanks, J! I love reading connections like this, even if they weren't intended by the author. I once found a bunch of Christian allegories in a George Orwell short-story and got an A+ from my professor with the remark, "This is probably the most unusual and yet remarkable essay I've ever read!" It's great how the Holy Spirit reveals things to us to teach us/others things. Your scripture references are a perfect way of how a person can use books such as Harry Potter to teach and guide a child in the way he should go. You know, J, if you wrote a book of criticism on Harry Potter with a Christian perspective (including all the allegories you see/perceive), it would sell very well, and I'd be one of the very first to buy it. Feel free to share more. Many of the kids I work with have read the books, and I look forward to witnessing to them with the use of your scripture references. I think I'll re-read the books and see what other allegories I can find. For example, Quidditch includes many allegories about life (specifically Harry himself) with bludgers/persecution and keeping one's focus on the goal/snitch through this persecution. I'm sure we can reference this to scriptures about Christians who go thru diverse trials (James) and are given a crown when they overcome by keeping their eyes on the "prize" (Revelation & Timothy). Yeah, I'm going to have to take another look at these books. Thanks again!
