Hi tigris,
Understand that I am not a medical professional so this is purely speculation. I believe that heterosexual people experience a certain amount of acceptance, of comraderie and of love and affection because they basically can 'be themselves'. As a middle schooler, while my other friends were talking about girls, I wasn't. Instead, I was thinking about THEM (my friends!), making sure that my locker was near theirs when they changed for gym, hoping that they would sleep over. I had to turn inside myself, not talk about my feelings, not have a chance to be one of the guys. As we get older, most of us here denied our true desires to have deep intimate sexual relationships with boys. (I believe that we did the right thing but that's a sidebar.) I think that in doing this, there is a certain degree of love and affection, of emotional fulfillment that was absent and which continues to be absent. We spend our days longing for boys and this takes its toll on someone emotionally. All of this emotional disconnect leads to depression, mostly from a feeling of hopelessness.

Again, take all of this as just my own speculation. I could probably come up with more reasons too. I'd love to hear if any of this seems to ring true with you.

You are not alone.

Love,
Ben
