... proved extremely effecive in the 90's. particularly in the area of AIDS activism where I did have something of a strong voice. Our attitude is simple. We're here, we're queer, and we're not gonna take your bullshit anymore. Either admit that we are good and decent people with good and decent morality or GET THE FUCK out of our way, bigots. It worked very, very well. Queer theororists have been advising a bit of a backing off now that we've made our point, but the point was VERY necessary to make. The queer movement has many voices and the ones that INSIST that we are every bit as morally good as you are are as important as the political folk who work for practical compromise. |
