some of the nastiest people i've ever encountered have deliberately constructed facades of superficial gentleness and niceness to conceal the festering putrescence of their true selves. i'm hardened to it. when i encounter huggy-feely, softly-spoken, fey people - i fear the worst. not that i'm accusing anyone on this board. as i read in another forum recently : it's a pity disputants can't resolve matters in RL over a beer or two. enmities are easily entrenched in cyberland owing to mistaken perceptions. |
