It doesn't take a saint to say something wise. I think he was talking to blacks who had gotten very tired of being discriminated against. He was saying that if they are unjustly hated, hating the haters only does more harm and escalates the hatred. If they are the victims of violence, it only does more harm to become violent in return by resorting to vigilante justice. I wish this same attitude could be adopted by gays/straights and pedos/non-pedos. MLK was by no means a saint. Very few people are. Many people who became famous by having a positive impact had their flaws. (JFK for instance) That doesn't mean everything they say should be ignored. MLK was trying to peacefully ease race relations at a very troubled time in our country's history. I admire him for that. Dakota |
