Hi Genghis - I have taken the phrase to mean a boy who one has a special interest in and is building a close relationship with. In general, it has come across as being 'like a boyfriend' but the sexual component is optional depending on the beliefs of the BL posting. For most (if not all) here, the relationships are not sexual but have every other component of that kind of relationship. Personally, I have avoided using the term Young Friend because I have chosen not to seek out this type of relationship. I generally work with boys in groups, such as coaching a team or leading a group in church, without building a special relationship with one boy. This WAS something that I did in the past, but have long since given up because my heart kept breaking (as will always happen). TJ was the first in a while but, alas, God did not intend that one to happen either. You are not alone. Love, Ben |
