Because I don't want to associate with such vile, disgusting and evil people and pilosophies. Christianity has unleashed so much depravity and suffering into the world that the thought of it makes me almost literally sick to my stomach. People in general (whether Christian or not) have unleashed a lot of depravity and suffering into the world. There are a lot of bad people in this world who will use whatever tool they can to forward their own agenda on the masses. What group of people hasn't been used this way? And where did Jesus ever tell his followers to act with depravity and cause suffering in the world? Obviously, a lot of His followers have no idea who He is and they've built their own religion and politics around their own man-made image of Christ and still call themselves Christians. Just as someone who doesn't know what it truly means to be a "boylover" would be offended by the term, I know many are offended by the title of "Christian". I have a hard time telling people I'm a Christian without explaining what I mean by calling myself a Christian. I agree that many "Christians" have done a lot of harm, but I seriously doubt they follow the teachings and truths of Christ, and it doesn't make Him any less true. |
