Instead of blind belief, I think it's rather silly for a person to believe anything except what he actually KNOWS. Some employers hire only college graduates because they value the knowledge that these college graduates have gained through the teachings they received in college. Some employers prefer to hire those with life experience (no matter whether they have a degree or not) because they know that not everything can be known through just facts and teachings alone -- a lot can be gained through experience. As children, before we went to school and without our parents teaching us, we learned a lot about life by just living it and observing or exploring the world around us. It didn't take me long to know that it would get dark at night and then become light again in the morning. I don't think I ever asked my parents if this would always be true. I learned that fact through experience. As I said before, I believe I know God through my experiences -- reading the Bible, following its teachings, being blessed because of it, seeing the difference in my life and in others lives because of it, having prayers answered, experiencing a wonder-full baptism of the Holy Ghost, being able to use spiritual gifts, seeing that my life has been "directed" seemingly by something outside myself, hearing and believing in the experiences of other Christians, feeling at peace about my beliefs, and finding all these things confirmed in the Bible. Without getting too detailed, these are just some of the experiences that have led me to believe I KNOW God is real and that the Truth is in Jesus. I don't expect anyone to believe in Him because of what I have said, but I believe that those who seek Him with their whole heart will find Him. |
