It is utterly ludicrous to say that Christians don't discuss portions of the Bible. They have been taking the Bible apart word by word for hundreds of years. Some parts make them uncomfortable, sure. There are parts that involve killing and, yes, parts that include things that the modern world would deem sexist. I have acknowledged this. What I also said was that there is a dual nature that can only be unserstood when taken in context. I laugh because you seem to only see what you want to see. I told you that if you wanted to know about those verses, there are huge, huge amounts of commentaries and opinions on them on the internet. That is much more than I could or would want to say here. I will let that stand. If you want to say that it is because they don't exist or that I am in some sort of denial, you are not hurting my feelings. They are not hard to find. Try starting with a search engine if you don't know any sites specifically. Yes, you raise serious issues. You just don't seem to care about honest answers. You only want to strengthen your own views rather than listen to others. The Bible is not new. Coming to a BL support forum and asking questions like this that have been answered by thousands of people over hundreds of years seems odd. I generally do research if I am curious. Still, language is ambiguous. All of it. This is one of the first things one learns in language processing. According to context, words can mean anything. The very atoms of language are undefinable in technical terms. I don't mean to get all technical or sound snooty, though. I just mean that I advise you to read the Bible again with an open heart and dropping the biases. It shouldn't be about trying to prove a point. It should be about trying to gain wisdom. You could basically prove anything if you play with words enough. That is something the Bible talks about too. God is about relationships, not rules. It is more about intention than the actual actions. |
