Perfect love (God's love) is perfect giving. The opposite (sinful lust) is total taking. We have a fallen nature (lusts of the flesh, lusts of the eyes and the pride of life, which is not of the Father but it is of the world). We also have a new nature which develops as we allow God to mould us. Why do we expect ourselves to be instantly perfect when we accept God's gift of 'new life'? Why do non-Christians expect us to be perfect? I experience lust almost every day and I ask God's forgiveness. it is a war between good and evil within and Jesus is the only one who has won that war |
