The idea that reduced UV light levels could raise life spans is itelf without foundation. We can test the idea by examing cultures where UV light is not a factor for most people. There are the people living under rain forest canopies, for example. They are exposed to little if any UV and there lifespans are not longer than those of the rest of us. Then there are the Arctic natives. They spend their entire lives covered from head to toe with clothing that does not allow UV to pass through. They do not live remarkably long lives. |
