I don't know how much my beliefs mean to you, but I don't think that these verses mean we will never be tempted again. All people are tempted and fail sometimes. Gay or pedophile temptations are no better or worse than anyone elses. It is ridiculous to think that somebody is not saved because of what they are tempted to do or have done. Being attracted to a woman who you are not married to is the same in God's eyes as wanting to have sex with a guy. Of course, some people on these boards would say that sex with a guy is fine. Anyway, I think that these verses mean that we are on the right path... the path towards heaven. We may stumble, but God will keep us on it. If we are stubborn, he may have to kick us on it, but we are on it nevertheless. I thought of an analogy before that you might like. Imagine that you are choosing sides in a war. As a Christian, you have chosen the side which will surely win. Now, you may make some mistakes. In fact, you may be a terrible soldier and even inadvertently help out the other side at times. Still, when the war is over you will go home with your comrades and celebrate at the victory table. So, while you may not be in the best position, you will be on the winning side. There is no need to fear defeat once you have chosen who to follow. Only be concerned with doing your best.
