1Cor 6:11 + 2Cor 5:17

There are two verse in the Bible that freak me out, 1Cor6:11 "And thats is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were santified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God" The problem I have with this particular scripture is the statement "that is what some of you were" that would seem to indicate that those mentioned in this verse, homosexuals, theives, drunks ... changed. Many Christians use this particular verse as "evidence" that homosexuals can change. But can they really? I have read this verse over and over ... I know it off by heart and I want so much to believe it, but can't. I am gay, I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour many years ago. God has granted me many blessings, through him I am cleansed, sanctified and justified and yet, I remain a homosexual. Could this scripture verse simply refer to the cleansing and forgiveness of sin? The other one is 2Cor 5:17 according to this passage, when we become christains, when we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Saviour we become a "new creation" furthermore, "old things have passed away; behold all things are made new" so our old sinful nature is dead! Its been crucified at the cross right? We are made brand new thus, if that is the case then surely that means, our old sinful nature (in my case, my homosexual nature) is dead and gone! If I am a new creation then, my homosexual nature is dead! Its gone and I am no longer gay! Many christians have condemned me saying that, I am not saved because I continue to homosexual desires. I am not a "real christian" because I am still attracted to men. Are they right? If you are gay and you become saved and a "new creation" then surely, that means that you are no longer gay because you have been made "brand new" you are a "new creation in Christ" Does this make sense? What do you guys think? Are any of you gay? And what about B/L, if we are a "new creation" then doesn't that mean that, we are no longer boylovers? |
