Hi Huck, I know what you mean, i work with boys in a shelter, because it is a shelter, the boys are only there for a short period of time,usually 2 months. These boys range in ages 6-12 years old, they have been abused, abandoned or neglected. They all strive for attention which i am happy to give, they give me hugs as i do them also. I am blessed to be at this job helping these young boys and showing them affection and letting them know that there are people out there that do like, care and love them. Some of my staff think it is wrong that i hug them, i do not. I am there because i care for them and they need that affection. They need to be hugged as much as i need their huggs. Some of the boys i feel closer to than others because of their situations. I have falling in love with some of them, then when they leave in 2 months after the bond we have made, it hurts to see them go. So yes, i know how you feel, but with me it is with several boys, not just one, and on a continuis basis. The job does not pay well, and have not had a raise in 2 years, but i am still there, not for the job, but for the boys who need us. Nash |
