Seamus, I really can relate to how you feel. As I look around me at the THOUSANDS of people who are strolling their own kids down the street, I keep thinking to myself "why me"? It is a such a simple thing for people to be attracted to adults of the opposite sex, such a simple thing for them to desire to be married and have kids. And yet for me it is elusive. Even keeping my own girlfriend was beyond my grasp. I knew that I could never love and satisfy her the way I could a boy (but chose not to). One of the things that helps me put this into perspective though, is reminding myself that we ALL have our weakness. For some it is a physical disability, for others it can be mental simplicity or even something more insidious, such as an addiction to alcohol or drugs. I think that one of the deceptive things about BLs to OURSELVES is the fact that we are otherwise normal. We desire to be normal and our feelings are normal...they are just directed at boys instead of women. So, we feel like we should be normal....feel the pain of not being normal. In John 5, Jesus encounters a man who had been an invalid for thirty eight years. When I put my life into perspective, I'm not sure that I would trade my life for his. I need to be greatful for where God has put me and the purpose that I can give to the world if I follow God's will. You are not alone. Love, Ben |
