Hi coffeekid, I'm 19 and I face that same question (especially with respect to masturbation, which IMHO is harder to figure out whether it's wrong, especially if you don't want to, which too often I don't). I think, again, the Bible is pretty clear on extra-marital sex, if you want it to be clear. I'm a virgin too (don't be ashamed of that, my friend) and I agree with you, it is extremely difficult sometimes to think of life stretching out ahead never experiencing that gift that God has given man. But I think that is what God requires, and fortunately, we don't have to look at it that way: live each day as it comes. Don't look for strength to fight tomorrow's battles, God will give that as they come. And sometimes it's going to be very, very tempting to rationalize God's will away, but try, and yes it's tough but try always to remember that God will give you a greater happiness than any sex could bring. I hear what you're saying about not being attracted to girls... I can only say, yes, I think God does want us to stay virgins. Deny our sexual feelings? I don't know about the wording there, but I think he wants us not to lust certainly. One wonderful thing to remember is we have one Person we can always talk to about these things, and that is Christ Himself. Yes, He is exacting, but He is also loving and sympathetic. Do you think that He does not empathize in the battle you are going through, or that He is not so very proud and happy that you have resisted temptation? He's always there, and He's always ready to listen and understand everything you say. I will pray for you, and may God help you and all of us as we follow Him. ATN |
