Work to be done

At work, we are blessed with no less than four 16yo's working here on 3 months contracts. I think that all of them are from the same school, but I want to get to know two better in particular. One of them is a ginger haired kid, that transfered from another department, we get on okay (on a work basis), he's called for my help on many occasions, so things should go from there. The other two get on okay with me, but I have no plans to get too involved with them. The newest member arrived yesterday, he's shy, cute, fairly nervous & has been warned about me...... To explain, I write further. Most of the people in work know that I have a healthy interest in boys & believe I am Bi, which doesn't bother me. But I've been talking too much & some people are getting the wrong impression. I made the mistake the other day of telling an older Gay man that I was looking forward to this new kid coming, as according to one of the older boys from his school he was Gay & he would "put in a good word for me". I did reasure him & most people do know, that I have no sexual interest in any of them at all & only want to help them along their paths in life. I did tell people not to give this kid the wrong impression on his first day, because I wanted to act as a sort of guide & mentore to him. So I walk into work yesterday, the Gay guy, who's working with the kid, says to me "I've told him about you & your to keep well away from him." I was understandably upset, but realised later when my supervisor said it was probably of my own doing, for talking to openly around the other staff. I don't speak about anything sexual, but I see how they get the wrong impression of me sometimes. The good points have been reasuring, a female colleague, said to me have you seen the new kid yet. I said "yeh, he's quite cute". She agreed & said, yes, he's really nice. She said not to worry too much about what th Gay guy said, as in time, this kid will come to know who I am in his own time & see that I'm okay. She also said that he's not Gay, but has been bullied alot by the other kids at school. I am praying for him & have quite a few long shifts where we are together over today & Sunday, I will keep all informed! Best regards MF72 |
