Proverbs

14:16,17 -- A wise man fears the Lord and shuns evil, but a fool is hot-headed and reckless. A quick-tempered man does foolish things and a crafty man is hated.

14:29 -- A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.

10:12 -- Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs.

15:1 -- A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.

16:23 -- A wise man's heart guides his mouth and his lips promote instruction. Pleasant words are like a honeycomb.

17:14 -- Starting a quarrel is like breaching (cracking) a dam, so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.

17:27 -- A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered.

18:7 -- A fool's mouth is his undoing.

19:11 -- A man's wisdom gives him patience. It is to his glory to overlook an offense.

29:11 -- A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.

Ecclesiastes

7:9 -- Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit for anger resides in the lap of fools.

Matthew

5:21,22 -- You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, "Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment." But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says, "Raca" (an Aramaic term of contempt) is answerable to the Sanhedrin (Jewish Council). But anyone who says, "You fool" [or "you fag"??] will be in danger of the fire of hell.

5:44 -- I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.

1 Corinthians

13:4,5 -- Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, but keeps no record of wrongs.

James

1:19 -- Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger...

3:9-12 -- With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

1 John

3:15 -- Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.
