Authority is not absolute.

False; a person can slay me, but they cannot force me to act against my conscience. Only I can do that.

You have authority over your body, you do not have authority to use illegal drugs, abuse prescription drugs, commit suicide, have sex with children, etc. because someone else was given authority that supersedes yours in certain areas.

1) Authority was taken by force of arms, and incidentally, in violation of law.

2) As mentioned before, the authority of said force of arms is fradulent. They have the authority to beat me. They have the authority to torture me. They have the authority to kill me. They do not have the authority to force me to act in violation of my will. Only I can choose to be weak.

That verse you chose to use says that it was God who granted that authority to the government.

...from which would follow that burning Christians as streetlamps is a good thing; it was transpiring at the time it was written.

Who am I but a humble servant, to follow the will of God...

Begin again with a logic that is more sound and perhaps youll have a sound argument.

Show me, then, where the authority which has actually been granted to me is compromised; what am I barred from doing - not by threat of violence, but truly barred?
