However, I think now you understand my point of view, and you see it isnt an un-christian one, simply one you arent accustomed to. I think thats the important part. If you feel comfortable believing the sola scriptura philosophy, then certainly no harm will come from it, the message of salvation is still good, the gospel is still good, etc. So, this isnt an issue that is essential to your soul. However, I reached a point where I decided I cant continue believing these dogmas created by men, and I came to the realization that 'sola scriptura' is a relatively new invention that until now I believed simply because its what Id always been taught. If you never reach that point, then thats fine, it makes little difference. One thing from your response Id like to point out though.

>How can you even consider the Bible, which gives everyone the key to salvation, and the right to obtain it, might be "simply a book that tells us about those events and gives insight into their meaning"?

The bible does not give anyone the key to salvation. The key to salvation was Jesus. Christians who lived the 300+ years after Jesus' death and before which the bible was compiled still recieved salvation and were still christians. So, obviously the bible is not the key, the message contained in the bible is the key. That message (the gospel) survived those 300+ years during which there existed no scripture but the old testament (and the scattered writings that hadnt been compiled yet). So, the bible is not what gives us the key, its the story contained therein that is important. That is a big problem with following 'sola scriptura' it becomes a form of idolatry, holding the bible in such high esteem, when in fact its just a book.
