From your post, I gather that you were/are some form of catholic. Im not catholic myself, though Ive been learning alot about the catholic faith recently (for personal reasons). I thought you might be interested in knowing, if you didn't know already that catholics actually allow you to confess to any priest. It does not have to be a priest in your parish, it does not have to be the one you always go to. It can be any priest at all. Which means that if you have to confess things that you don't want your regular priest to know, you can always set aside a day to go on a long trip (as long as you feel is necessary) to go confess to some priest you will never see again in your life. That is perfectly acceptable in the catholic church. What is not acceptable is for you to confess partially (that is, to confess only some of your sins). You can forget to confess some sins that you actually forgot about, thats perfectly fine. But if you have a sin that you remember and you choose not to confess it for X or Y reason, they consider that entire confession invalid.

Im not saying that you must confess to a priest or your salvation is at risk. That's up for debate since not all christian religions believe that. But assuming you are catholic and are perfectly happy with the catholic faith, I thought you might be interested in knowing that you have those alternatives.
