Yes there is that statement in the Bible that justifies most legitimate military action, but in this case are we defending ourselves or just looking for a fight?

I'm not surprised that many nations were against it. I'm all too used to the attitudes of the EU now, though I had a rude awakening to it after Sept 11th. The problem is that while their arguements are very good on some points, on others they can be woefully misguided. I just coulnd't understand how people could argue for the case of the Taliban.

Once again, using my friends as examples, on Sept 11th this year I observed a simple moment of silence at the time I heard that Britain was observing it. I was standing at a bus stop on my way home with a couple people and I told them about it. One said "Screw it, I ain't giving THEM my silence." Another said "How 'bout some silence for the first bombs dropped on Afghanistan?" I told him I wouldn't be against that, but asked if he was willing to mourn the Taliban, why not 2,800 innocent Americans? As I stood there during that simple one minute, they started to sing instead of talk.

Naturally their favorite band is Rage Against the Machine, whose lyrics are mostly super-left critisism of America. They like the words "Democracy" and "Hypocracy" because they rhyme, but I told them that maybe it was the band that were being hypocritical by calling America "Fascist," for they were completely free to do so. Free to critisise the government as much as they wanted, but if they wanted to do that in the countries they so empathise with, like Iraq or Taliban Afghanistan, they wouldn probably not have survived long.

The thing is, I have no doubt that my idealogy has flaws, what I hate is the arrogance of people who think that their idealogy is flawless.
