Stopping the proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) is paramount to maintaining peace and stability and protecting US interests (in this case, Israel). If Saddam is willing to negotiate a compromise then we should sit down and negotiate that compromise, the important thing is to prevent the spread of WMD's, not to dethrone Hussein's regime. Historically speaking, the US' track record on helping support regime changes is dismal. Sure, we have been successful, but most of the time it has backfired (Castro, Noriega, the Taliban, Usama Bin Laden, and Fujimori all recieved our help in the past). The US is a failure when it comes to helping people dethrone world leaders. We should learn from our mistakes and not do so again. The WMD programs do need to be stopped. But who rules the country is really none of our business.
