In reply to bible endorses slavery, shall we still allow it? submitted by TBL on 2002-11-13 16:46:06, Wednesday

No, I haven't read the entire Bible but I have read enough of it to know it is merely a guide and not a book of laws. Click the link for find more about the Bible and slavery.

Precisely that. The bible is a complete work, you cannot read only parts of it and then infer on the entire work. You have to view everything in it's entirety. You have to look at the complete work, not just some chapters. After reading the complete work, you will understand where all those things you mention fall into place. Read it, the whole thing. Then we can discuss it. But for now, you simply lack the knowledge necessary to understand all of this and you can only gain it by reading the bible, the full thing (unless someone else here is willing to walk you through all of your misconceptions and explain where things fall into place in the bible, but I certainly am not going to make that effort just because you are too lazy to read it yourself). The bible is composed of the Old Testament and the New Testament. You need to understand them both to truly understand the bible.

The things you mention are all part of The Old Testament, they were things that God directed his people to do at specific times to achieve specific goals. Those laws do not apply to us, if you had read your bible, you would know this.
