(Where the movie does not compare to the book and those who read the book first are sorely disappointed). However, The Philosopher's Stone was different. I can't speak for Chamber of Secrets since it isnt out yet in my area, but The Philosopher's Stone was one of those rare instances where the movie was just as good as the book. Sure, it wasnt an exact copy, they had to trim some things in order to make it fit a reasonable running time, and they removed a scene that wouldnt've been too exciting to see on the big screen, but overall the movie was just as good as the book and I enjoyed it just as much having already read the book. Since you already have the books you may as well as pick them up and read them, if you dont like them you can always stop but I have found that those books are real page turners, once you pick them up you wont put them down.
