Thanks for raising it up a notch, btw... but here, I'm just going to have to jump on my own analog of the fundie bandwagon, if only to have full consideration of as many different views as possible...

"All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable; all things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything."

1 Cor 6:12... emphasis likely mine...

...desire (being a thing, and hence subset of 'all things') would then be lawful; does it master you? Does it war for mastery?

Are you a house divided against yourself, warring with a desire which is of you - mastered thereby, fallen, even if not yet? Or does it arise - as it will - stand acknowledged in its place, and let pass, save that it be not master, but servant through you of God?

(or at least dead neutral... I don't think that, say, a desire for apple juice - that it not be a debilitating addiction - is specifically for or against God or His will, truth be told...)

...just a hypothetical continuation/derivation/variance (::shrug:: could be classified as any/all of the three) for random thought...

...and maybe a few entertaining flames calling me, Jesus, Paul - hey, can we get Moses on the 'satanic' list that some people like to hold? - evil... IF I'm lucky. ;)

I leave this thread in the hands of the world, come what may.
