Drive them away? How exactly does that happen? They believe in Jesus, accept Him as their Lord and Savior, then they hear someone confirm that homosexual activity is a sin and they take off? My but that is shallow.

You see, I don't need to lie to people and tell them that God accepts us defiling the gift of sex by using it in an unnatural way, because the Love of God and the joy of serving Him FAR outweights the physical happiness one gets out of an immoral relationship.

I too have learned and studied the Bible on my own steam. I have not been raised in a church. I have learned what I know about God, through my personal relationship with Him and His guidance in studying His Word.
