Given the work I've done, I wouldn't want to discount the good that journalism can do in informing people. I think, though, that the most valuable part of what you've been doing is to create connections with people outside of CBF - personal connections, I think, are likely to have a stronger impact than impersonal articles (not that the latter are not valuable, just that they're limited). The ex-gay community knows this; that's why they've put such an effort to tell the stories of individuals in their community rather than simply dwell on the abstract. I hope that, if an article is done, your therapist will draw strongly from people's stories here and not simply write an abstract thesis. It's good to talk with you again-- Heather |
