The problem with personal observations

While I agree with nearly everything you said, I think that this statement is neither here nor there:

When people ignore the rules, as far as I have ever seen, the results are always some kind of pain...mental, emotional, physical, etc. I have never seen anything other than those results, honestly.

You have only witnessed relationships with a negative result...so what? it doesnt mean the opposite does not exist. I have witnessed both, so I know both exist. The fact you have not observed something does not mean it does not exist or that it is particularly rare. It simply means you havent observed it. I think that statement does more to weaken your argument than to make any point. I have personally never seen a happy marriage. Every married couple I know has serious issues. Does that mean that happy marriages do not exist? Im sure it doesnt, Im sure there are people out there who married the right person..Ive just never met such a couple before. The fact that I havent met any doesnt mean they dont exist.
